Overview

The Giraffe Centre was founded in 1979 as a breeding and conservation facility for the Rothschild giraffe by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW). It seeks to increase public awareness of giraffes and advance conservation initiatives. Within the grounds of the Giraffe Manor, the center is situated in Lang’ata, a Nairobi suburb.

Tour Highlights

• Giraffe Feeding: The opportunity to feed the giraffes is the best part of the Giraffe Center. On an elevated platform, you can ascend and hand-feed pellets made especially for giraffes. The giraffes—mostly Rothschild giraffes—are used to being around people and gladly approach the platform to be fed.
• Information Center: There is a section of the site dedicated to information about giraffes, their behavior, habitat, and conservation activities. Insights about giraffe conservation are provided by educational displays, posters, and movies.
• Guided Tours: The Giraffe Centre offers informative guided tours that are led by staff members who are well-versed in the giraffes, their conservation status, and current studies and projects. The tour is educational and fascinating because the guides frequently have a passion for animals and conservation.
• Nature Trail: You can enjoy a leisurely stroll through a woodland on the nature trail at the Giraffe Center. The trail is a nice addition to your trip because it gives you a chance to see different bird species and other wildlife.
• Souvenir Shop: There is a gift shop where you can buy giraffe-themed items including t-shirts, jewelry, and artwork at the center. The center’s conservation efforts are aided by the sales proceeds.
